Safety Tips

• Never share your home address, workplace, school, or daily routines with someone you just matched with
• Use Afterly's in-app messaging — be cautious of people who immediately push you to move to another platform
• Do not share financial information, send money, or buy gift cards for someone you haven't met in person
• Be skeptical of profiles that seem too good to be true, push intimacy unusually fast, or make unusual financial requests — these are common signs of romance scams
• Use a strong, unique password for your Afterly account and enable device-level security (Face ID / PIN)
• Review what personal information is visible on your profile — you can hide your exact location, age, and distance in settings

• Use Afterly's AI identity verification feature to verify your own profile and look for the verified badge (✓) on others
• If you suspect a profile is fake, use the in-app report feature — select "Fake or Catfish"
• Video chat with a match before agreeing to meet in person — it's the best way to confirm someone is who they say they are
• Be cautious if someone always has an excuse to avoid video calls
• Reverse-image-search profile photos if you have doubts (drag the photo into Google Images)

When you decide to take a connection offline, take these precautions:

• Meet for the first time in a public, busy place — coffee shops, restaurants, or parks
• Tell a trusted friend or family member where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back
• Share your live location with a friend via your phone's native location-sharing feature
• Arrange your own transportation to and from the meeting — don't rely on your date for a ride
• Keep your phone charged and bring a portable charger if possible
• Have a check-in plan — if you haven't texted a friend by a certain time, they should call you
• Trust your instincts — if something feels off, it's okay to leave
• Stay sober enough to make clear decisions

As a trans or gender-diverse person, you may share sensitive information on Afterly that you don't share publicly. We take extra care with this:

• Your gender identity, medical details, and profile content are only visible to other logged-in users — not indexed by search engines
• Use Afterly's Incognito Mode (Settings → Privacy) to browse without appearing in other people's discovery
• Use the "Visibility: Liked-Only" setting to only appear to users who have already liked you — great for maximum control
• Block someone to immediately prevent them from seeing your profile or messaging you
• If someone shares your private information outside the app without consent, report it and contact us — this is a direct violation of our guidelines

• You are never obligated to respond to a match or message
• Unmatch or block someone at any time — they won't be notified and cannot see your profile afterward
• Use the Report button (⋮ on their profile) to flag harassment, fake profiles, or guideline violations
• If someone threatens you, screenshot the evidence and report to us and to local law enforcement
• If the situation is an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency services immediately
